National Leadership Team

Royal Langer

Royal Langer

National Coordinator

The National Coordinator keeps JCF running by communicating with the other leaders and helping Christians get connected with other Christians. He is the official representative for JCF to AJET, and also manages the JCF finances.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

Royal was born in the town of Seattle in America. He lived there until the ripe age of approximately 10, and then moved to Colorado with his family, where he budded into the petunia that can be viewed today. He has been actively walking with the Lord for almost 3 years, loves learning languages and playing music (specifically of the percussive affinity). He does not enjoy long walks on the beach, unless they are with his wife.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. – Psalm 73:25

I hail from the Caribbean, particularly, a little island called Jamaica. We are known for many things including reggae music and the fastest man and woman alive. This is my 1st year in Japan, I am living in Ibaraki Prefecture. I work as an ALT at 3 Senior High Schools. I have been a Christian for more than half my life, and love the things of the Lord. I am a down-to-earth person, I ask the hardest questions and think the weirdest things. My hobbies include anything creative, sports and nature.

Bible Study Coordinator

The Bible Study Coordinator organizes online Bible study groups for people that don’t have church access in their area or are unable to get involved in one otherwise.

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. – Ephesians 1:5

I’m from the beautiful country of New Zealand. This is my 7th year of living in Japan and 3rd year of living in Nagano Prefecture on the JET Programme. Through the grace of God he has brought me here to continue sharing God’s Word to the people of Japan. I was first drawn to Japan by the kindness of the people and the vast difference in culture in comparison to New Zealand. In my spare time I like to do sports especially running in the hills around my place and playing tennis. When I can I like to swim as well. This summer I was very fortunate to swim with my elementary school students at school. I look forward to growing more in God with you all.

Retreat Coordinator

The Retreat Coordinator plans national retreats at least twice a year to bring JCF members together to grow in fellowship with one another and with Christ.

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. – John 14:12-14

I’m Abi (Abbs). I am now in my fourth year as a ALT working in Nagano prefecture. I came to Japan with a vision to help strengthen and build the churches. Relationships being the key, I am learning how to love people more and asking God, through the Holy Spirit, for greater things to be done here.

Newsletter Editor

The Newsletter Editor is an enthusiastic encourager of collecting user-generated content through reflections, essays, poetry, photography, and art from members in JCF every month for the purpose of informing, challenging, and ultimately strengthening the body of Christ-following believers in Japan and beyond.

We have this hope as an anchor for our soul, strong and secure. – Hebrews 6:19

Originally from central New Jersey, USA, I’m currently a first-year ALT in northern Akita Prefecture. I’m both astonished and thankful everyday to somehow witness the Holy Spirit’s mercy and grace abound in my life in Japan. Despite constantly running into dead ends due to my brokenness, I know God works in heavenly supernatural ways and will overcome my weaknesses to teach others how His light shines bright in dark places. As a discipler in America once told me, “you’re not just there to teach English”; the mission is clear and the waters may be rough but His hand is steady! My hobbies include typical introvert activities such as cooking (for two), eating (also enough for two+), photography, collecting/appreciating words (I blog), and cutting my hair. I also love traveling, visiting festivals, and asking elderly Akitans for new Akita-ben vocabulary whenever the chance arises (because talking is fun-dabe!). I highly look forward to getting to know you, whoever you are, and receiving your stories in conversation or for the monthly newsletter!

Librarian

The Librarian writes a review of a highlighted book from the JCF library for the monthly newsletter and sends books to readers living all across Japan.

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. – Psalm 139:1-3

I was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and have lived in various places in the American south-east before moving to Fukui Prefecture in 2014. Now, I am happily married to a wonderful Christian man who loves me and supports me. I am the daughter of a Baptist preacher and an elementary school teacher who always raised me to follow Christ. Shortly after graduating from university, I began feeling that God was calling me to come to Japan. Now that I’m here, I will seek to follow God’s direction for my life and carry out whatever mission He has in store for me. My hobbies are watching movies, knitting, cooking, and reading.

Worship Coordinator

The Worship Coordinator organizes and leads the worship team during retreats.

But while the son was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him. – Luke 15:20

I grew up in NJ, USA as an insider in the church, with both parents committed servants of our local church. The gospel wasn’t fully formed in me until May 2010, when, after a long battle with sin, I had an experience of God’s unconditional forgiveness for the first time. To this day God has been faithful to keep me walking/stumbling/running toward the hope of the resurrection at the last day.

Missionary Liaison

The Missionary Liaison provides moral and spiritual support to JETs and makes connections between Christian JETs and the world of Japanese churches and missionaries in Japan.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

Former JET now here as a missionary, so I have some understanding of both worlds and what can be done and what possible expectations are out there. I love Japan and both Japanese and foreigners living in Japan, so I want the experiences in both directions to be positive. Many blessings to y’all.

Webmaster

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. – 1 Peter 5:10

I’m a former JET living in Osaka. Though I hail from the tiny state of Delaware in America, I recently spent 3 years living in rural Tanzania, East Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer, plus a 3-year stint as an ALT up in the mountains of western Hyogo. Since then, I’ve developed interests in education and language learning, but a long-standing passion of mine is working with computers, which I’m happy to be able to put to use here with JCF. I feel immeasurably blessed to be where I am today, and I am excited to have this opportunity to help others walk with God through JET Christian Fellowship.
