National Leadership Team

Jessica McLemore

National Coordinator

The National Coordinator keeps JCF running by communicating with the other leaders and helping Christians get connected with other Christians. She is the official representative for JCF to AJET, and also manages the JCF website.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. – Galations 2:20

Hello, my name is Jessica. I was born and raised in a Christian home in Los Angeles, California. One of my favorite things to do is serve (and brew coffee) at my local church in Toyama prefecture. God first led me to Japan in 2012, and then a couple more times before I moved here in 2015, and it’s been an adventure! JCF is such a loving, supporting, and encouraging family and I’m blessed to be a part of it. In my free time I enjoy laughing, playing the koto, learning Japanese, traveling, and visiting cafes with friends. I have also been known to occasionally indulge in making terrible puns.

Shermaine Stone

Prayer and Encouragement Team Coordinator

The P&E Team Coordinator plans out prayer meetings and writes the Encouragement section of the newsletter.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. – Psalm 73:25

I hail from the Caribbean, particularly, a little island called Jamaica. We are known for many things including reggae music and the fastest man and woman alive. This is my 1st year in Japan, I am living in Ibaraki Prefecture. I work as an ALT at 3 Senior High Schools. I have been a Christian for more than half my life, and love the things of the Lord. I am a down-to-earth person, I ask the hardest questions and think the weirdest things. My hobbies include anything creative, sports and nature.

Chelsey Beal

Bible Study Coordinator

The Bible Study Coordinator organizes online Bible study groups for people that don’t have church access in their area or are unable to get involved in one otherwise.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 3:11

I’m from Tennessee in the United States. I started my time off on the JET Program in Shiga Prefecture, but am now working as a direct hire ALT in Nagano Prefecture. I have been involved in this wonderful JCF community since my first retreat in fall 2011, and honestly, I never imagined I would be around this long. All praise and glory goes to God for His plans for my life here. It has been an absolute joy to see how He is working and moving in Japan.

Rachael Casoni

Retreat Coordinator

The Retreat Coordinator plans national retreats at least twice a year to bring JCF members together to grow in fellowship with one another and with Christ.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. – Colossians 3:16-17

Hello, I’m Rachael. I grew up in a Christian home in New Hampshire and knew from a young age that God wanted to use me and to share His word wherever He takes me. Since 2016 that has been Fukui. The JCF community has been a great spiritual encouragement for me here and it is my hope that JCF’s retreats can be springboards for encouraging fellow brothers and sisters in Christ while helping to equip us to make disciples in our local communities.

Joylene Medom

Newsletter & Blog Editor

The Newsletter & Blog Editor is an enthusiastic encourager of collecting user-generated content through reflections, essays, poetry, photography, and art from members in JCF every month for the purpose of informing, challenging, and ultimately strengthening the body of Christ-following believers in Japan and beyond.

“Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:’Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?'” – Job 38-41. It’s four chapters, but reading it always reminds me of how unfathomably huge and powerful God is and immediately comforts and assures me that He is in control of all things.

I’m from India and this is my second time both on the JET program (7th year) and as the JCF Newsletter Editor. I volunteered for the position again because I’m an otherwise withdrawn person here. As a PK back home in India, I enjoy the lack of attention and expectations in Japan. Unfortunately, with that comes the tendency to not be as involved with fellow believers. Having a responsibility in JCF pushes me out of my comfort zone and reminds me that it’s not about me – it has to always be about the Lord.

It’s my hope that the JCF Newsletter community blog will encourage and uplift JCFers. It’s not easy or convenient being a Christian in Japan – especially for those who live in the ‘inaka’ areas. My first JET period was in Akita and JCF was like a lighthouse for me then. Although I’m now in a less inaka area than before (Hyogo), the church I go to is more than 90 minutes away and I don’t always make it. I hope that JCF will continue to be like a gentle, loving sibling patiently encouraging others to keep on keeping on the way it has for me.

Librarian

The Librarian writes a review of a highlighted book from the JCF library for the monthly newsletter and sends books to readers living all across Japan.

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. – Psalm 139:1-3

I was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and have lived in various places in the American south-east before moving to Fukui Prefecture in 2014. Now, I am happily married to a wonderful Christian man who loves me and supports me. I am the daughter of a Baptist preacher and an elementary school teacher who always raised me to follow Christ. Shortly after graduating from university, I began feeling that God was calling me to come to Japan. Now that I’m here, I will seek to follow God’s direction for my life and carry out whatever mission He has in store for me. My hobbies are watching movies, knitting, cooking, and reading.

Deborah Ruth Trotter

Deborah Ruth Trotter

Missionary Liaison

The Missionary Liaison provides moral and spiritual support to JETs and makes connections between Christian JETs and the world of Japanese churches and missionaries in Japan.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

Former JET now here as a missionary, so I have some understanding of both worlds and what can be done and what possible expectations are out there. I love Japan and both Japanese and foreigners living in Japan, so I want the experiences in both directions to be positive. Many blessings to y’all.

Mia Spratt

Treasurer

The treasurer keeps JCF’s financial accounts in order and creates a report of how donations and funds are being used.

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. -1 Thessalonians 2:8

I’m from Ohio, USA, now living in Fukui Prefecture. I’m primarily a stay-at-home wife/mother while teaching English to children for a private English school on the side. The reason for my family’s move to Japan was to tell others (Japanese or foreigner) about the gospel. My heart is not just for those who don’t know Christ but for those who are also serving Christ in a country that spiritually is so dark. Being someone who isn’t part of the JET program, I feel honored to help serve JCF. I stand by JCF’s vision, by helping edify and encourage brothers and sisters in Christ so we can all go back into our communities to be witnesses.
